Reconstruction and functionalization of aerogels by controlling mesoscopic nucleation to greatly enhance macroscopic performance

چکیده
This work presents a strategy for the mesoscopic engineering of hierarchically structured sodium alginate (SA) aerogels to enhance macroscopic performance. The was implemented by meso-functionalizing and reorganizing SA via controlled heterogeneous nucleation, in which microcrystalline cellulose-manganese dioxide (MCC-MnO 2 ) nano-crystallites worked as template. Due short rod-like structure abundant hydroxyl groups MCC-MnO , organized mesostructure reconstructed during assembly molecule chains, gave rise significant enhancement performance areogels. For instance, functionalized /SA acquired more than 70% increase mechanical strength with an excellent deformation recovery. Furthermore, almost double removal capacity metal ions (i.e., Cu 2+ Pb organic dyes congo red methylene blue) obtained MnO aerogels, 87% repossession pollutants after 5 operation cycles.

Mesoscopic and macroscopic optoacoustic imaging of cancer.
Optoacoustic imaging combines the rich contrast of optical methods with the resolution of ultrasound imaging. It can therefore deliver optical visualization of cancer far deeper in tissue than optical microscopy and other conventional optical imaging methods. Technological progress and novel contrast media have resulted in optoacoustic imaging being propagated to basic cancer research and in cl...

15 صفحه اولMesoscopic and Macroscopic Models for Mesenchymal Motion
In this paper mesoscopic (individual based) and macroscopic (population based) models for mesenchymal motion of cells in fibre networks are developed. Mesenchymal motion is a form of cellular movement that occurs in three-dimensions through tissues formed from fibre networks, for example the invasion of tumor metastases through collagen networks. The movement of cells is guided by the direction...

From Macroscopic to Mesoscopic Models of Chromatin Folding
An overview of the evolution of computer models for simulation of chromatin folding is presented. Chromatin is the protein/nucleic acid fiber that stores the genetic material in higher organisms. Many biological questions concerning the fiber structure and its dependence on internal and external factors remain a puzzle. Modeling and simulation can in theory provide molecular view for analysis, ...
